The Best Wife

Words of Sheikh Mustafa Majzoub about his wife. Subhan’Allah!

“Wallahi, if there is anyone I’d like to describe as a warrior and a hero, it’ll be my wife Rawya (Umm Amaar) she made the great sacrifice of sending her husband across the oceans and the lands, she gave up her comfort of being close to her husband for the sake of benefiting people she never met, she carried the risk of never seeing her husband again in this world, she carried the heavy load of looking after our 3 children alone and never complained. Wallahi when she found out I’m travelling far away she didn’t complain once, rather she only said “I hope to be with you in Jannah if we don’t meet again in this world” and she said to me not to worry about my children and that she’ll never marry anyone again if I was to be martyred. I thank her for everything and I thank Allah from the bottom of my heart for blessing me with her and I ask Allah to reward her immensely for being the best friend I could ever have.

Wallahi I would never think of having any other wife second to her because “She’s all I can ask for”.

The Cancer of Modernist Ideology

A sister says

“Most of these Sheikhs need to shut up! Seriously, how is it a Pastor of a church defend Boko Haram and not them?

The pastor said, “Boko Haram was not a problem in Nigeria, until the police killed their leader unarmed and started killing members of Boko Haram

So, why don’t these Sheikhs talk about the unwarranted killings of innocent Muslims? Why don’t they talk about corruption from the leaderships, and bringing them to justice? These people will pay dearly. If not in this life the next.

If you speak the truth. Start with the truth and end with the truth.

Northern Nigeria is suffering badly. Boko Harm didn’t steal money from the people and deposit them in Western banks. Boko Haram don’t drive the corrupt police on the corners of any major highway and force them to force bribe on people.

Come on man! Solve problems, don’t add yourself as fuel for the fire.

I’m sick of them ignoring the real problems of the people.”

Sheikh Gumi: Prophet Mohammed, Muslims Have No Enemy Worse Than Boko Haram
Posted: August 14, 2012 – 19:33

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi
By SaharaReporters, New York
Islamic cleric Sheik Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, whose series of daily Ramadan sermons is gradually drawing to a close, yesterday asserted that members of the Boko Haram sect are the most dangerous enemies of Prophet Mohammed and Muslims in general.

The cleric, who is based in Saudi Arabia, made the statement as he preached yesterday at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna. He enjoined fellow Islamic clerics to defy any fears and preach against the unjustifiable killings allegedly perpetrated by members of the sect.

One of the clerics at the mosque, who did not want to be named, told a correspondent of SaharaReporters that he was inspired by Mr. Gumi’s courageous message and would follow suit.

Our source credited Sheik Gumi with warning his audience that there were also criminals carrying out criminal acts in the name of Boko Haram and destroying the image of Muslims. In addition, he reportedly alleged that some elements were recruited by Western powers to fight Islam in Nigeria.

Mr. Gumi added that, if members of Boko Haram were truly behind the bombing and killing of innocent people, then they are enemies of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria. He said there were serious developmental challenges affecting Muslims that need to be addressed rather than carrying out arms and killing people.

Our source quoted Sheik Gumi as stating, “If it is true that it is Boko Haram, I repeat, anybody that carries a bomb and kills people is wrong. Our malams [teachers] should not be afraid to talk. The issue that anybody who talks about Boko Haram will be killed should be defied. [Some say] that if you talk about the consequences of Boko Haram, they will kill you and [so] the best is to keep mute. If you keep quiet, they have already killed you since you are silent. Show them the right way of practicing Islam, and [do not] allow a few people to be practicing contrary to the laid down rules as enshrined by Allah.”

Sheik Gumi added, “You who have hid are cheating our faith. You are not helping Islam but destroying our Ummah. We have been oppressed and [members of Boko Haram] have come with weapons and bombs attacking our society. Because of this, I state that Prophet Mohammed and his people have no enemies more dangerous than they. If they want true religion and better society they must drop weapons. This is not the time for carrying weapons.

“It is time for us to address our core challenges of development that threaten our existence. Imagine a Muslim woman who, in the course of having a baby, will open her nakedness before an infidel…and you are here talking about bombs. Food we cannot eat on our own, except rice brought from Thailand. Medicines we get from England.”

The cleric further spoke about the weapons used in the attacks. He asked, “How did a 12-year old boy know how explosive bombs are made or affording it? All the money before us here cannot buy explosive bombs. It is the enemies that are giving them weaponry and they…believe that it was sincerely donated in fighting Allah’s cause. Unknown to them, it is all aimed at destroying Islam.”

Condemning attacks on Christian churches, the cleric asked, “If you attack Church, where people are worshipping, what is the profit and for what purpose? Is it Allah or Prophet that sent you? Is there any Muslim that said you should attack a church? Talk of mosque, they are being used in destroying Islam and may Allah help them to know. Our strength is our unity and the practice of real Islam. And anybody who thinks he will be using force like this, Islam and Ummah have no greater enemy than him.”

The cleric suggested that there are different types of Boko Haram. “There are those using it to destroy Islam, criminals attacking banks in the name of Jihad. There are those using it to attack Muslims in mosques. After attacks you will just see somebody with turban and guns belonging to the West, denting the name of Islam. Because of this we should be careful. There is Boko Haram and some fake ones, pure criminals. The real Boko Haram can be changed with sermon. Our malams should stand up to tell them there is no justification for killings. Don’t be afraid. They are killing Muslims and the infidels we have agreement to live in peace with.”

The Top One Percent (1%)

When Rustum, the king of persia asked the Muslims, why had they come to Persia?

Rabiah Ibn ‘Amir said “Allah Azza wa jal has sent us to deliver you from worshiping the creation to worshiping the Creator of the creation and to deliver you from the constriction of this world to the vastness of this world and the after life and from the oppression of the religions to the justice of Islam. Allah Azza wa jal has sent us to save you from worshiping each others.”

Allah says in Quran, if there were more than one god, each would have tried to oppress the other.

It is the nature of men and power to desire to oppress, control, and dominate others. People will lie, cheat, deceive, kill and slaughter to accomplish this goal. History has shown this to be the case on a continual basis.

What makes Islam different? Islam, as a complete system for mankind contains not only dress codes, religious duties, criminal justice, but also a God-given edict to free men from the worship of creation to the worship of the Creator of creation.

It is this ideology that the leaders of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad had to fight against, and this same oppression is present today and is portraying Islam as the threat to world peace, when the truth is that Islam is the arch-enemy to the secularism rampant throughout the Euromerican world plan of complete global domination.

Armageddon is upon us and the Evildoers have painted Islam and the Muslims as the enemy.  The truth is the opposite.

What is our problem?

“It is striking today that, we Muslims read so many books and still have no result of any revival, yet the Sahabas revived a great portion of the world by reading only One Book in their time; the Holy Quran. The fact is that they did not just read it, but practiced every bit of it. It was enough then, and is still enough today. [Shaykh Hasan Ali]”Image

Taken from: Masharai al-Ashwaq Ila Masarai al-Ushaaq – Ibn Nuhaas
216. Abu Hurairah narrated: “The strong believer is more beloved to Allah than the weak believer” (Muslim)

217. The Messenger of Allah used to say: “O Allah I seek refuge in you from gloom and sorrow; from inaction and laziness; and from cowardice, stinginess and old age, and I seek refuge in you from the punishment of the grave” (Bukhari – Muslim)

Notice that the Messenger of Allah combined between seeking refuge in Allah from gloom and sorrow. For gloom is the fear of what is coming while sorrow is sadness on what has already passed.  So the Muslim should not feel sorry for the past nor fear the future. And he combined between inaction and laziness for inaction is the state of the heart while laziness is the state of the body. He combined between stinginess and cowardice for stinginess is the unwillingness to give wealth for Allah while cowardice is the unwillingness to give the soul for Allah.

How to overcome fear:

Cowardice is the opposite of courage. Courage is the firmness of the heart. The heart is the essence of every good deed. The heart cannot be firm if the mind isn’t sound. If the heart is weak it leads to cowardice, and if the heart is too strong it leads to recklessness.

The coward needs to cure cowardice by eliminating its cause. If it is caused by ignorance then ignorance is cured by learning. The cause could be fear of the unknown and that is cured by experiencing situations. We find that the beginner in public speaking experiences fear in the beginning but after experience this fear is overcome. We find that when a person first meets a king they might fear the occasion and their tongue would be tied and their posture would change.

That is due to the anxiety of facing a new experience. But if that occasion is repeated many times the fear is eliminated. Original nature can be changed. It is sufficient as proof to see a Hawa child (children trained to care for snakes) grabbing a large snake that would make a brave man tremble while this same child could fear a frog because he is not exposed to frogs. Taming animals is a process of changing their original nature and it is done through training. A wolf could play with a sheep, a cat with a mouse, and a dog with a cat if they are conditioned to do so even though that is contrary to their original nature. Now if animals can change their characteristics can’t humans do the same?

Having a strong heart leads to victory. Ali was asked: “How do you defeat your enemies?” He said: “When I would meet my enemy I would believe with firm conviction that I would defeat him while he believes that I would defeat him so both myself and his self support me against him”.

Some have advised: “Believe in victory, you will be victorious”

Others say: “If you fear your enemy you have allowed an army to be sent against your heart”

We have found that the ones who died because of their fear are more than the ones who died due to their courage.

Al Tartooshi says:

Courage is of three types:

1. A man who stands in front of the army asking for a challenger from the enemy to come out and face him

2. A man who remains calm, concentrating, tranquil while the battle is ragging. And when others are succumbing to fear he has not lost his orientation and is not confused and acts in a way that proves he has control over himself.

3. A man when everyone else is defeated and is retreating remains firm calling them, and encouraging them to continue the fight.

Al Tartooshi says that the third man possesses the greatest form of courage.

The courageous of this Ummah:

The most courageous of all mankind is the Messenger of Allah.

He had the strongest heart of all.

He faced the toughest of situations. Heroes would scatter from around him while he is firm. The Messenger of Allah never turned his back in battle.

218. In Bukhari and Muslim Anas bin Malik narrates: “The Messenger of Allah was the best of people, he was the most generous and the most courageous.”

219. Ali said: “When the ferocity of combat would reach its limit and the eyes would turn red we would seek refuge next to the Messenger of Allah. He would be the closest of us to the enemy.” (Muslim)

220. A man asked al Baraa bin Aazib: “Did you run away during the life of the Messenger of Allah?” He said: “We did. But he didn’t.” (Bukhari – Muslim)

In Uhud Ubayy bin Khalaf, riding his horse, charged towards the Messenger of Allah. Some Muslims wanted to get in the way to protect the Messenger of Allah but he told them to move aside. The Messenger of Allah picked up a spear and threw it at Ubayy who was covered in iron armor from head to toe. Nothing appeared from him except his eyes and a small opening in his neck. The spear hit him right in the neck and he fell off his horse. Even though the spear only caused a minor bruise in his neck due to the protection of the armor, Ubayy rushed back screaming: “Muhammad has killed me!” The people of Quraish checked him and said we don’t find any major injury. You are fine! He said: “Muhammad claimed he would kill me, therefore it must come to happen!” Ubayy latter died on his way back to Makkah.

The courageous of this Ummah are too many to count. On top of the list are the Sahabah whom Allah praised in Quran:
Among the famous brave men of the Ummah are:

1. Abu Bakr:

The courage of Abu Bakr was witnessed by the hero of the Ummah Ali bin Abi Talib. When he was the Khalifah Ali asked: “Who is the bravest of men?” They said: “You are,” He said: “I have never dueled anyone and lost. But the bravest man is Abu Bakr. During the battle of Badr we built a shed for the Messenger of Allah and we asked who would be the bodyguard of the Messenger of Allah therein. Abu Bakr came carrying his sword and defended the Messenger of Allah for the entire day. In Makkah the disbelievers attacked the Messenger of Allah: One would pull him, the other would beat him and they would say: “Have you made the gods one God?” No one dared to go near the Messenger of Allah save Abu Bakr. He went and started fighting them and would say: “Are you going to kill a man just because he says: “Allah is my Lord!”““ Then Ali asked: “Who is better Abu Bakr or the believer of the family of Pharaoh? (His story is mentioned and praised in Quran)” The people remained quite. He said: “Why don’t you answer? In the name of Allah, one moment in the life of Abu Bakr is greater than the entire earth full of the likes of the believer of the family of Pharaoh! The believer of the family of Pharaoh was a man who concealed his faith while Abu Bakr was a man who proclaimed his faith”

Abu Bakr is the bravest man of this Ummah after the Messenger of Allah. One can note the strength of his heart during the battle of Badr, Uhud, the trench, al Hudaybiah, and Hunain. It is enough to note his steadfastness, firmness, and strengthening of the entire Ummah when the greatest disaster of all befell us: The death of Muhammad (saaws). That was when the hearts deviated, and the nation was shaken. When all the hearts where trembling the heart of the Siddeeq was firm. If the heart of Abu Bakr were placed on one side of the scale and the hearts of all the Ummah on the other, his heart would outweigh them all. The courage of Abu Bakr in his
decision to fight the apostates if distributed over the hearts of the cowards on the entire face of the earth, it would be sufficient to make them brave.

2. Umar bin al Khattaab

It is sufficient to point out that the courage of Umar was sufficient enough to make Shaytaan avoid him.

The Messenger of Allah told Umar: “O son of Khattaab: In the name of whom my soul is in His hands whenever Shaytaan sees you taking a route he would take another” (Bukhari – Muslim)
His Islam brought strength to the Muslims. Abdullah bin Masood said: “We used to not be able to pray next to al Kaabah publicly until Umar became Muslim.

3. Ali bin Abi Talib:

He was the lion of this Ummah. He never missed a battle with the Messenger of Allah except Tabook because the Messenger of Allah appointed him over Madinah in his absence. During the battle of Khaibar the Messenger of Allah said: “Tomorrow I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him. He does not turn his back away in battle and Allah will make opening occur on his hands” All of the Sahabah desired that honor. The next day the Messenger of Allah called Ali and gave him the banner.

Musaab al Zubairi said: “Ali was very cautious in battle. He was swerve terrifically from his enemy and whenever he charges his enemy he would protect all his sides and when he retreats back from his charge he would be even more protective of himself. No one could get to him. His shield was one sided. It only protected him from the front. When asked: “Don’t you fear an attack from behind?” He replied: “I never give my enemy the chance to attack me from my

4. Talhah bin Ubaidillah:

He is one of the ten given the glad tidings of Paradise. During Uhud he shielded the Messenger of Allah with his own body causing over 70 injuries in his body. Whenever the Messenger of Allah wanted to look at the disbelievers Talhah would plead with him not to do so and would shield him with his body.

5. Al Zubair bin al Awwaam:

He is also one of the ten given the glad tidings of Paradise. He was the first Muslim to draw out a sword. During the early days of Islam in Makkah a rumor spread that the Messenger of Allah was kidnapped. Al Zubair drew out his sword and went looking for him. He ran into the Messenger of Allah who asked him: “What’s wrong with you Zubair?” He said: “I heard that you were kidnapped so I came out to fight them!” The Messenger of Allah prayed for him.

6. Saad bin Abi Waqqaas:

He is one of ten given the glad tidings of Paradise. The Messenger of Allah prayed for him: “O Allah make his arrow hit its target and make his prayer accepted” Umar appointed him to lead the army at Qadisiyah. The Muslims won and he continued leading them in Persia until he opened most of it and entered the capital, al Mada’in. Saad is the one who founded the two cities of Kufah and Basra. When he was dying he requested his body be rapped and buried in an old wool cloth. He said this was what I had on during the battle of Badr and I’ve reserved it for this day.

7. Abu Ubaydah bin al Jarraah:

He is one of the ten given the glad tidings of Paradise. Umar appointed him over the army opening al Shaam. He was the leader of the army during the great battle of al Yarmuk. He died in the plague of Amawas in al Shaam.

8. Hamzah bin Abdulmutalib:

He is the lion of Allah and his Messenger. After the battle of Badr Umayyah bin Khalaf who was captured asked AbdulRahman bin Awf: “Who was the man in your army marked with an ostrich feather on his chest?” AbdulRahman said: “That is Hamzah” Umayyah said: “He is the one who brought ruin to us!” He was killed during the battle of Uhud.

9. Jaafar bin Abi Talib:

He was ten years older than his brother Ali. He was the second leader in line at the battle of Mu’tah. When he took over after Zaid he carried the banner with his right hand which was cut off so he carried it with his left hand, which was in turn also cut off so he embraced the banner and continued fighting until he fell. They found in the front of his body over 90 injuries.

10. Muadh bin Amr bin al Jamooh:

He was the slayer of the Pharaoh of this Ummah Abu Jahl.

He said: I made Abu Jahl my target on the day of Badr. When I found him I charged at him and struck him with my sword and cut his leg in two. Then his son Ikrimah hit me on my shoulder until he cut off my arm. It only remained hanging to my body by the skin of my side. But
because fighting distracted me I remained dragging it behind me for most of the day. When it annoyed me I placed my foot over it and pulled it off.

11. Al Baraa bin Malik:

He is the brother of Anas bin Malik the servant of the Messenger of Allah. He was one of heroes of this Ummah.

Anas bin Malik heard his brother al Baraa humming poetry so he told him: “O my brother you are humming poetry? What if this is the last thing you speak?” [When Quran was revealed the Sahabah disliked reciting anything but Quran. Anas was warning his brother and saying that if you die this moment and the last words you spoke were lines of poetry, how would you face Allah? In another narration he told him to rather remember Allah] Al Baraa said: “No! A man like me won’t die on his bed. I’ve killed ninety nine of the nonbelievers and hypocrites!”
(Mussanaf ibn Abu Shaybah)

Umar wrote to his military generals to never allow al Baraa to hold any position of leadership in the Muslim armies. The reason: Umar said he is too hazardous for the Muslims! (Al Hakim)

During the battle against the forces of Musaylamah the liar, he sat on a shield and asked the Muslims to carry the shield on their spears and throw him over the walls of the enemy in order to open the gates! He did open the gates but after he received over 80 injuries. (Al Isabah) On the day of the battle of Tastur the Muslims asked al Baraa to make an oath to give them victory. Al Baraa said: “O Allah! I make an oath that you hand us over their shoulders (give us victory) and to make me follow your prophet (to die)” He charged the enemy and the Muslims followed him. The Persians lost, and al Baraa was martyred. Allah fulfilled his oath.

Anas narrated: When Abu Musa was appointed governor over al Basra he told al Baraa to choose any position of leadership in his government and he will be appointed to it. Al Baraa said: “I don’t want any. Rather I want you to hand me over my bow, horse, spear, sword, and shield and then sent me to jihad. He sent him in an army. Al Baraa was the first to die” (Ibn Abu Shaybah)

12. Sammaak bin Kharshah (Abu Dujaanah):

Before the battle of Uhud started the Messenger of Allah held a sword in his hand and said: “Who would fight with this sword and give it its due right?”

Some men stood up and offered to take it but the Messenger of Allah didn’t give it to them. And then Abu Dujaanah stood up and said: “O Messenger of Allah what is its due right?” He said: “That you strike with it the faces of the enemy until it bents!” Abu Dujaanah said: “I will take it O Messenger of Allah” and he gave it to him. Al Zubair bin al Awwaam said: “I felt saddened that I, the cousin of the Messenger of Allah, would ask for the sword and would not get it but Abu Dujaanah would. So I decided to follow Abu Dujaanah and see what he would do with it.

Abu Dujaanah pulled out a red bandanna and tied it around his head. The Ansar said: Abu Dujaanah has pulled out his bandanna of death! He then attacked enemy and whenever he would face anyone he would kill him!”

Before the battle he marched with pride before the enemy. The Messenger of Allah said: “This is a walk despised by Allah except in this situation”

During the battle of al Yamamah he threw himself over the wall surrounding the city and broke his leg. He continued fighting with a broken leg until he was martyred.

13. Khalid bin al Waleed:

He is the drawn sword of Allah. As soon as he became Muslim the Messenger of Allah was sending him to fight the enemies of Allah. Khalid never in his life lost a battle.

Khalid bin al Waleed said: “If I were to marry a beautiful woman whom I love, or if I were given the good news of having a newborn son, is less beloved and dear to my heart then to be in a cold icy night in an army waiting to meet my enemy the next morning. I advise you to go on jihad”
These were the words of Khalid before his death.

14. Salamah bin al Akwa:

We mentioned his story earlier when he fought the disbelievers alone.
The Messenger of Allah said about him that day: “The best of our foot soldiers today is Salamah bin al Akwa”

15. Ukashah bin Mahsan:

His bravery in war was well known. In the battle of al Ghabah he saw Amr bin Abaar along with his father riding the same camel. He threw his spear and killed both of them the same time.

16. Amr bin Ma’adi Yakrib:

He was a king from Yemen who was famous for his bravery. He later embraced Islam.
Umar would count him as a thousand men. Al Tartooshi mentions in Siraj al Molook that Amr bin Maadi Yakrib went next to the river and told his people: “I am going to cross the bridge. If you follow me after a time equivalent to the time it takes to slaughter a camel you would find me with my sword in my hand fighting whoever is in front of me with the enemy surrounding me and I am standing between them. If you come later than that you would find me dead.” And then
he crossed the bridge over the river towards the enemy’s camp. A while later his people said: “O sons of Zabid! Are we going to leave our man alone? We might not even catch him alive”

So they crossed the bridge and found him without his horse while he was holding both back legs of an enemy’s horse and the horse failed to move. The fighter on the horse was trying to reach Amr behind him with his sword with no avail. When the fighter saw us attacking he came down from his horse and ran away. Amr then mounted the horse. He then told us: “You were almost going to miss me” They asked him: “Where is your horse?” He said: “It was hit by an arrow that killed and I fell off its back”

17. Ikrimah the son of Abu Jahl:

He was courageous before becommung a Muslim and Islam only added to his courage. During the battle of Yarmuk he fought ferociously. He was told to slow down and be cautious. He replied: “I used to fight to defend Allaat and al Uzza (two idols) and I would not take any care for myself. Now you want me to take caution when I am fighting for Allah and His Messenger!”
He then said: “Who is going to pledge to die!” Al Harith bin Hisham, Dhirar bin al Azwar along with 400 of the brave gave their pledge. They attacked the Romans and disappeared in their ranks. Ikrimah never came out. His body was found with more than seventy injuries.

18. Tulayhah al Azdi:

When Saad bin Abi Waqqaas asked the Khalifah Umar to send him reinforcement. Umar replied:
“I have sent you 2000 men: Amr bin Ma’adi Yakrib and Tulayhah al Azdi. Each one of them counts as a thousand”

Tulayhah, Amr, and Qays bin Makshooh went on a reconnaissance mission to the enemy’s army.
Both Amr and Qays kidnapped some Persian soldiers and brought them back to the Muslim camp for interrogation. Tulayhah went further until he was in the camp of the army’s commander. He hid until nightfall and then went straight to the tent of the commander and took away his horse -which was tied to the tent- and ran away. A Persian horseman saw that and followed him. Tulayhah killed him and took his horse along with his and the commander’s horse.

Another horseman pursued him and Tulayhah also killed him and took his horse. A third horseman attacked him but then surrendered. Tulayhah captured him and carried him away, along with a total of four horses in addition to his. The Muslim leaders gathered to question the Persian who turned out to be one of their leaders. He said: “I have fought numerous battles but I have never seen anything like this man! He crossed our camps until he made it to where even the brave would not dare: the camp of our army’s commander, which had over 70,000 soldiers. As if that wasn’t enough he went ahead and took the commander’s horse! The first of us to follow him was considered among us to be equal to a thousand men and he killed him! The second to follow him was killed and then I pursued him and I don’t think that there is anyone in the army equal to myself in strength and courage. But I saw death on his hands and surrendered! The man then accepted Islam and fought along side the Muslims.

19. Abdullah bin al Zubair:

He was the courageous and son of the courageous. His father was al Zubair bin al Awwaam. Abdullah participated in the opening of North Africa and killed Jarjeer, the king of the Berber.

20. Abdullah bin Abi al Sarh:

He was the opener of North Africa. He was the one to lead the first naval battle of the Muslims:
The battle of al Sawari against the Romans. He was appointed by Uthman to govern Egypt.
When the fitnah occurred he retired to al Ramlah in Palestine where he remained until he died.

21. Al Qa’qaa bin Amr

When the Messenger of Allah was consulting the Sahabah before Badr Al Qa’qaa said: “Go ahead and fight and we will not say what Banu Israel said to Musa: “Go and fight with your Lord, we will stay here” But we will say: “Go ahead and fight with your Lord, we are going to fight with you”

Abu Bakr said about him: “The voice of al Qa’qaa in battle is better than 1000 men”

So tell me again, Who are the Terrorists?

‎I don’t know how clearer these ayats in the Quran can get. Some Muslims have taken the oppressors language to use on their brothers and sisters in Islam. Calling those harmed by the kaffirs terrorist, when in fact, the kaffirs are the ones terrorizing.

39. And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.

40. The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. for ((Allah)) loveth not those who do wrong.

41. But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame.

42. The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous.

The sexual humiliation of Muslims in the War on Terror
Written by Asim Qureshi
Tuesday, 24 April 2012

Sex in Islam is a matter that carries with it a great deal of modesty and shame – the above verse indicates the clear and unequivocal ban on extramarital relations.

It is considered a private matter between a husband and his wife, whether it is in a monogamous or polygynous relationship. Indeed, covering oneself to maintain a minimum level of dignity even when alone is recommended according to the shari’ah (Islamic law).

As part of the psyche of Muslim communities around the world, they respond to sexuality and references to sexuality based on the societies they have grown up in and the extent of conservatism within their communities. For Muslims living in the Western world, overexposure to images of sex and nakedness in order to sell objects, is commonplace, thus having a desensitising impact on their psyche, however much they may dislike what they see. For those living in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan, such images are far less commonplace, in fact non-existent, resulting in a greater degree of sensitivity.

On 4 April 2012, the Zelikow torture memo (previously thought to be destroyed) was released, which effectively confirmed that years after criticism of the way in which torture has been systematically used, that enforced nudity is still to be considered an acceptable practice in interrogations,

“The control conditions, such as nudity, sleep deprivation, and liquid diet, may also be sustainable, depending on the circumstances and details of how these techniques are used.”

The Tipton Three (Shafiq Rasul, Asif Iqbal and Rhuhel Ahmed) were amongst the first to detail the forms of sexual humiliation that detainees in Guantanamo were suffering. Shafiq Rasul described a cavity search that was conducted on him soon after his arrival in Guantanamo as being, “both painful and humiliating.” However, the shame that was associated with such acts resulted in the slow acceptance that this was taking place,

“We didn’t hear anybody talking about being sexually humiliated or subjected to sexual provocation before General Miller came. After that we did. Although sexual provocation, molestation did not happen to us, we are sure that it happened to others. It did not come about at first that people came back and told about it. They didn’t. What happened was that one detainee came back from interrogation crying and confiding in another what had happened. That detainee in turn thought that it was so shocking he told others and then other detainees revealed that it had happened to them but they had been too ashamed to admit it.”

In their statement, the men highlighted the case of one of the Algerians, one of whom was treated to a particularly horrific incident,

“We were told by one Algerian (not one of the Bosnian Algerians) that he had been taken to interrogation and been forced to stand naked. He also told us he had been forced to watch a video supposedly showing two detainees dressed in orange, one sodomising the other and was told that it would happen to him if he didn’t cooperate.”

In Guantanamo, the practice of sexual humiliation was systematic as detailed by Paisley Dodds in an article for Salon, references were made often to the former interrogator Sgt Erick R Saar who detailed some of the practices that were being implemented against the detainees,

“Beginning in April 2003, “there hung a short skirt and thong underwear on the hook on the back of the door” of one interrogation team’s office, he writes.” Later I learned that this outfit was used for interrogations by one of the female civilian contractors…on a team which conducted interrogations in the middle of the night on Saudi men who were refusing to talk.””

In another incident, Saar described the way in which a man was humiliated through the use of specific Muslim sensitivities,

““His female interrogator decided that she needed to turn up the heat,” Saar writes, saying she repeatedly asked the detainee who had sent him to Arizona, telling him he could “cooperate” or “have no hope whatsoever of ever leaving this place or talking to a lawyer.”‘

The man closed his eyes and began to pray, Saar writes.

The female interrogator wanted to “break him,” Saar adds, describing how she removed her uniform top to expose a tight-fitting T-shirt and began taunting the detainee, touching her breasts, rubbing them against the prisoner’s back and commenting on his apparent erection.

The detainee looked up and spat in her face, the manuscript recounts.

The interrogator left the room to ask a Muslim linguist how she could break the prisoner’s reliance on God. The linguist told her to tell the detainee that she was menstruating, touch him, then make sure to turn off the water in his cell so he couldn’t wash.

Strict interpretation of Islamic law forbids physical contact with women other than a man’s wife or family, and with any menstruating women, who are considered unclean.

“The concept was to make the detainee feel that after talking to her he was unclean and was unable to go before his God in prayer and gain strength,” says the draft, stamped “Secret.”

The interrogator used ink from a red pen to fool the detainee, Saar writes.

“She then started to place her hands in her pants as she walked behind the detainee,” he says. “As she circled around him he could see that she was taking her hand out of her pants. When it became visible the detainee saw what appeared to be red blood on her hand. She said, ‘Who sent you to Arizona?’ He then glared at her with a piercing look of hatred.

“She then wiped the red ink on his face. He shouted at the top of his lungs, spat at her and lunged forward” _ so fiercely that he broke loose from one ankle shackle.

“He began to cry like a baby,” the draft says, noting the interrogator left saying, “Have a fun night in your cell without any water to clean yourself.””

While the US government has denied this incident ever took place, the reporting of the incident by Saar matches perfectly with an incident that was described by Juma al-Dossary, who was eventually released to Saudi Arabia.

Also well recorded, has been the transference of techniques from Guantanamo Bay to Iraq, and in particular Abu Ghraib. The now infamous photos from Abu Ghraib betrayed both the sadistic way in which detainees were treated, but further than that, the systematic way in which their religion was used against them. In particular, the simulated homosexual positions that detainees in Iraq were subjected to, breached the most sensitive aspects of the Muslim psyche. According to Bernard Haykel,

“Such dehumanization is unacceptable in any culture, but it is especially so in the Arab world. Homosexual acts are against Islamic law and it is humiliating for men to be naked in front of other men…Being put on top of each other and forced to masturbate, being naked in front of each other – it’s all a form of torture.”

It is Seymour Hersh who delivers the most damning indictment of the way in which the actions of US soldiers in Abu Ghraib came from policy formed from those at the very top,

“The notion that Arabs are particularly vulnerable to sexual humiliation became a talking point among pro-war Washington conservatives in the months before the March 2003 invasion of Iraq. One book that was frequently cited was The Arab Mind, a study of Arab culture and psychology, first published in 1973, by Raphael Patai, a cultural anthropologist who taught at, among other universities, Columbia and Princeton, and who died in 1996. The book includes a twenty-five-page chapter on Arabs and sex, depicting sex as a taboo vested with shame and repression. “The segregation of sexes, the veiling of women…and all the other minute rules that govern and restrict contact between men and women, have the effect of making sex a prime mental preoccupation in the Arab world,” Patai wrote. Homosexual activity, “or any indication of homosexual leanings, as with all other expressions of sexuality, is never given any publicity. These are private affairs and remain in private.” The Patai book, an academic told me, was “the bible of the neocons on Arab behaviour.” In their discussions, he said, two themes emerged – “one, that Arabs only understand force and, two, that the biggest weakness of Arabs is shame and humiliation.” The government consultant said that there might have been a serious goal, in the beginning, behind the sexual humiliation and the posed photographs. It was thought that some prisoners would do anything – including spying on their associates – to avoid dissemination of the shameful photos to family and friends. The government consultant said, “I was told that the purpose of the photographs was to create an army of informants, people you could insert back in the population.” The idea was that they would be motivated by fear of exposure, and gather information about pending insurgency action, the consultant said. If so, it wasn’t effective; the insurgency continued to grow.”

Hersh’s work provides us with a glimpse into the way that sexuality is used against Muslim detainees in the War on Terror. Not only are the tactics being used in order to break the spirit of an individual during the process of interrogation, but further, to use that humiliation as a means to gain a position over the entire community – in effect – as for a form of counterinsurgency tool. Indeed, one of the tools that had been suggested by the CIA in order to undermine Saddam Hussein, was to produce a simulated homosexual sex-tape as if it had been produced by a hidden camera featuring the Iraqi despot. The idea being to destabilise the regime by using such defamatory material in the hope that he would lose any support from his Muslim population. One might claim that such a tactic might have been attempted in the South Park movie which depicted Saddam Hussein as the evil homosexual-lover of Satan.

Such smear tactics are not simply proposals, at times they have been carried out. One of the cited myths about Anwar al-Awlaki is that he was twice arrested for soliciting prostitutes, however he has never been charged with any crime and always claimed that the charges were completely false. Although the arrests were allegedly made in 1996-97, the use of this information against him only began to be peddled recently, as the US media sought to discredit the man’s Islamic credentials. A similar tactic was used against James ‘Yusuf’ Yee, a former Muslim chaplain for the detainees at Guantanamo Bay. Initially, Yee was accused by the US military of espionage in November 2003, and after being told to provide evidence before a court, eventually charged him with adultery and viewing pornography (crimes under US military law). He eventually won his appeal against the adultery and fornication charges as General James T Hill dismissed the case against him. The same of course can be said of the assassination of Osama bin Laden, where media attention turned to the suggestion that there was a “cache of pornography” in his home. These were both examples of how accusations of improper sexual activity on the part of a Muslim have been used against him, in order to present a flawed and thus immoral character.

The act of using sexual humiliation in order to undermine Muslim enemies serves different purposes depending on the circumstance. The sad reality is that this is not something new to the Muslim world. The current rape of Muslim women in Syria, the mass rapes in Bosnia, and other degrading treatment meted out over the years of repression and conflict in the Muslim world has seen the use of sexual violence and humiliation as being a cornerstone of the way in which Muslim communities are subjugated. Examples such as Ahmed Abou El-Maati in Syria and Moazzam Begg in Afghanistan, where they were made to believe that their fiancé and wife were being violently abused in the rooms next to them, expose the deepest fears that Muslims have, that it is not just them, but their families who will suffer the most depraved degradation.

Sexual humiliation has become a part of the instruments of the War on Terror, by preying on our sensitivities as Muslims, the US decided to play an extremely deadly game, one in which the horror of their actions will only serve to alienate and disaffect Muslims worldwide. The honour and dignity of Muslims is considered to be inviolable, but it is this very concept that he been attacked through the policies that have been practised by the US. This continued humiliation will only last so long, for as the Arab Spring has shown us all, there is only so much that the people can take.

How Banks Have Controlled Governments and Started Wars, Since the Crusades till Today

Not much more needs to be said.  Is it a wonder that Jesus would attack them in the temples? Bankers have less morals than drug dealers. They hate peace. They profit off of war and turmoil. They manipulate public reactions to support their hidden agendas. They lead societies to their destruction.

Oppression of the Masses of Americans is Moving from the African-American Community to Society At-Large

The African descendants who have ancestral ties to the USA (black folks) have had a long period of dealing with USA law enforcement, from the time of the 1700’s up until today.  This abhorrent behavior has been referred to as slavery, Jim Crow, Civil Rights, Law & Order, Three Strikes, Racial Profiling, the disparity of arrests and convictions and the time proven Police Brutality.  Each of these would contain an encyclopedia of evidence and documentation.

However, this post is about how the USA’s attitude of attacking innocent people and using violence, overwhelming violence is justified is coming home to roost.  First it was the First Nation people (Native Americans) who were subjected to violence, even when they were unarmed.  It was also Africans kidnapped from Africa, brought to the shores of the USA, not as citizens, but as cattle to be prodded, killed, sexually abused, tortured, lynched and so forth.

With the USA’s international violence against less armed people, it was also a program of overwhelming violence to show superiority and a lack of respect of the humanity of others.  This was also displayed in the invasion of Vietnam, bombing innocent people in villages, burning the villages, and torturing the citizens.  This scenario has been repeated in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Even the foreign policy of the USA reflects a gross disrespect of other sovereign nations and their citizens, evidenced through the drone program.

So now this mentality is prevalent in the overall mindset of American society.  The Congress makes laws draconian laws regarding finances, taxes, loans, insider trading statues, yet Congress is exempt from many of these same laws.

Thus the USA has reached its pinnacle of world power and now has digressed into a totalitarian state whereby justice is solely defined by the USA. Right and wrong are solely defined by the USA. Killing, terrorism, invasions and war and also solely defined by the USA.  The USA has had a history of a “us vs them” mentality since its inception and that has now reached its crescendo and is falling back onto its own population.

This has resulted in the surveillance of the emails, telephone calls, finances, whereabouts, etc of virtually every citizen as some type of anti-terror dragnet cast over the country to “make everyone safe”. Last year, Congress approved the local governments to use drones to monitor its own citizens. The Patriot Act allowed the government to conduct previously illegal search warrants against its own citizens. Now legal in the USA is the NDAA act which allows the government to detain you, without charge, without legal representation for an indefinite period. Recently,  an executive order stated that the government can now detain you even after you have been found not guilty of a crime .

All of this in spite of the Declaration of Independence giving Americans the right to severely alter a tyrannical government, as Paul Roberts stated “Police in the US now rival criminals, and exceed terrorists, as the greatest threat to the American public”

Malcolm X, may Allah grant him forgiveness, called this phenomenon “chickens coming home to roost”. Capitalism and oppression, which are almost synonymous will eventually destroy its host. We see that more and more every day.  It started off with good ideas. But the application was faulty from the beginning.

Now, with these crazed military vets returning home from their culture of abuse they inflicted upon Muslims all over the world.  The governing society will let them loose onto the American people because eventually the American people will rise up against their oppressors and the governing body will use these same tactics to decimate any freedom-seeking Americans.

It is now interesting to observe how the USA is turning into not only the lone superpower, but soon, the epitome of oppression towards its own populace.  No longer is it a black and white issue, but a power vs powerless, have vs havenot, 1% vs 99% issue.

Bush & Co decided to declare war against Islam and the Muslims. This policy is bankrupting the nation and the people in power are now trying to maximize profits domestically and abroad. The people of greed (capitalists) have turned onto their own people.

Allah has said in Quran, Suratul Anfal “36. The Unbelievers spend their wealth to hinder (man) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend; but in the end they will have (only) regrets and sighs; at length they will be overcome: and the Unbelievers will be gathered together to Hell;-“.  So Allah is saying that their spending will hurt them and become a cause of regret.  $16 trillion dollars in debt and still counting.

Oppression needs to be sustained, at all costs.  Ask Bashar, Qaddafi, Hosni, etc. They too suffered from this malady.  However, they were only one person.  The USA as a system has been oppressing people for centuries, in spite of claiming to be a bastion of freedom and liberty. This apparatus needs to convince the people to suffer peacefully in their oppressive state.  So we get these talk show hosts propagating the talking points of relabeling the oppressors as “job creators”, “don’t increase taxes on the wealthy” and other things. Because of the hatred many people have for either “liberals” or Obama, they wind up siding up with the very people who are cutting their throats for profit.

Eventually, the game will become transparent for all to see.  Those who accept the status quo will be eaten up.  Those who turn against it will be beaten up.

And the police are the first line of defense in any oppressive society.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqi, Our Sister, the Foremost in Faith.

May Allah make her imprisonment and suffering a source of blessings for her, and a source of forgiveness for her and grant her a speedy entry into jannah
